Patentex oval  >>>  How does it work?

After the ovule has been inserted into the vagina, it dissolves during the 10 minutes wait into a microfine foam. This spreads evenly throughout the vagina and uniformly distributes the spermicidal active ingredient nonoxinol-9.

Patentex oval offers a two-fold protection against pregnancy.

1. The unique formulation of Patentex oval develops a microfine foam that lines the vaginal wall and
evenly distributes the active ingredient.
2. The active ingredient nonoxinol-9 inactivates sperm.

Nonoxinol-9 is Patentex oval's spermicidal ingredient. This active ingredient is a highly potent spermicide. The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified nonoxinol-9 into the highest category as regards effectiveness and tolerability (Category 1: Safe and Effective). Nonoxinol-9 inactivates sperm by destroying its cell membrane.

Nonoxinol-9 not only acts as a spermicide, but also inactivates bacteria (e.g. Chlamydia trachomatis), fungi (e.g. Candida albicans) and parasites.
